And I’m off. Going to Seoul for the evening, then flying to Bangkok (via Beijing) on Friday. I’ll be in Bangkok for about 30 hours, so I’ll have a chance to check out the scene there. Sunday I fly out of Bangkok to Surat Thani in the South, where I’ll be doing a Full Moon Party, snorkelling, hiking and all that other stuff.
I hope to meet up with a friend from Seoul who just so happens to be from Thunder Bay, Amy Clark. That would be on the island of Koh Phi Phi, the same place the film “The Beach” was made. I’ll be traveling with my friend American friend Nicole from here in Samcheok for a lot of the trip, but do plan on doing some things on my own.
I have a goal for the trip, and I hope it’s not too lofty: Don’t waste a single day being hungover. I’m giving myself one exception, and that is the day after the Full Moon Party. I mean, how often do you go to a party with 10,000-30,000 people!? Check the Google Image Search. But still, I will be very very careful, I promise.
Lastly, I plan on being “off the grid”. Staying away from the Email, Facebook, etc etc. At this point in my life, there’s nothing important enough for me to tend to when I’m in a place like this. If something terrible happens, the people that need to get a hold of me can figure out how to do that.
Until sometime after August the 7th, adios.
