After being on the South side of Korea for 10 months, this is the most pissed off with the country I’ve been.
Read this article: Seoul to go ahead with drills despite threats of war
Yes, on the same island that was attacked a few weeks ago, South Korea has said they will hold a “live-fire exercise”. Now, I can care less if they shoot bombs into the water, just do it somewhere AWAY FROM NORTH KOREA. China and Russia (together, their militaries could take over the world) have both said to not carry out the exercise. North Korea has vowed a “serious response”. The Canadian embassy even sent out a warning about the drills.
After the attack earlier on the island, South Korea was criticized heavily for not having a strong enough response to that attack. They have said if it happens again, it will be a very strong response with fighter planes and what not. The drills, like the ones this morning, apparently caused the first incident. This incident would be bigger.
The south would respond heavily. The North will not take that shit, and will retaliate again. This could spin out of control very, very quickly. So, it begs a question:
WHY THE FUCK IS SOUTH KOREA STILL DOING THE DRILLS?
It has the (very slight) chance of spiraling into a war, and I’m not particularly far from North Korea. It would ruin Seoul. North Korea would lose, but not before millions of people die (that number is not an exaggeration). Both borders have over half a million soldiers at the ready. It would make the Iraq war look like two three year olds slapping eachother.
So, if things go ahead and if North Korea attacks back, this time I won’t be totalling blaming the North (even though they’re still dicks). Knowing the consequences, South Korea – the “civilized, efficient nation” will be to blame.
